| Gluteoplasty
with gluteal implants is performed to enhance the
size and shape of your buttocks. In addition, Dr.
Spera uses an effective new post-operative pain control
system that keeps you almost pain free during your
recovery.
PROCEDURE
Dr.
Spera performs an 8-cm to 9-cm incision in the midline,
from your coccyx (tail bone) up, which can be easily
concealed later, with any bathing suit or underwear.
Through this incision, a pocket is created, on each
side, under the gluteus maximus muscle, in which the
implant is placed. This implant is very safe, made
with solid silicone that does not need to be replaced
and cannot be broken. Finally, Dr. Spera introduces
a catheter (very thin “hair like” tube)
through the skin, which is connected to a pump that
delivers local anesthesia 24 hours a day for 4 to
5 days to the gluteal area. A drain will be used for
safety reasons for that period of time as well.
Recovery
You will stay overnight in our recovery suite. Since
you have the anesthesia delivery system, you will
be taking less pain medications and, in some cases,
you will not need the pain pills after 4 to 5 days
from the day of surgery.
You
will be asked to rest in bed lying on your tummy and
not to sit for 7 days. You can get up to go to the
bathroom and walk inside your house with moderation.
On post operative day number 4 or 5, your drain and
catheters will be removed. You will start to sit after
day 7. You, most likely, will be able to go back to
work 2 weeks after the surgery. |
