Male Breast
Reduction
(Gynecomastia)

Before/after Results

This condition can affect a small percentage of adult males. Breast/chest enlargement can occur temporarily in young boys, usually resolving in their late teens. Enlarged breast in a males may be associated with obesity as well as hormonal metabolism imbalance, liver disease, or medical causes. Prior to choosing a surgical solution to your gynecomastia, Dr. Spera will evaluate if a medical condition needs to be corrected.

Is breast/chest reduction surgery for you?
While talking to Dr. Spera, he will ascertain your goals and surgical expectations. He will then examine your chest and skin laxity to diagnose the cause of your enlargement.

PROCEDURE

Liposuction surgery is the procedure used to actually remove the localized deposits of fat cells that may be causing the enlargement of your chest area. If glandular tissue is present, it will be removed after the liposuction, through a small periareolar incision.

Recovery
Resting in bed is advised for the first day. You will wear a special compression garment from two weeks to a month. Most discomfort associated with breast surgery can be controlled with oral medication prescribed by Dr. Spera. Most patients are back to work within the first week.
