Correction Of Tear-Trough Deformities

A tear-trough deformity is a sign of aging characterized by an indentation between the lower eyelid and the cheek, which is created by reabsorption of fat that is located on the undersurface of the orbicularis oculi muscle. In many patients, this is one of the first noticeable signs of aging. For that reason, you can find tear-trough deformities in patients as young as 30 years old. The correction of this deformity, i.e. this sign of facial aging, is not easy. Plastic Surgery In his Plastic Surgery Center of Miami, Dr Spera uses surgical techniques that comprise transfer of fat from the lower eyelid bag over the noticeable orbital rim, in order to fill the depression created by the original fat reabsorption. As an alternative, Dr Spera can successfully treat this deformity with the injection of fillers. One filler that is very useful to treat this problem is called Radiesse. Radiesse is a gel that contains hydroxyapatite, a substance that is usually involved in the formation of bone. Because the tear-trough deformity is localized at the lower portion of the orbital rim, which is a bony structure, this injection mimics the material underneath the depression. For that reason, it is an excellent filler to treat this condition. Dr Spera can perform this procedure in his Plastic Surgery Center Miami or any of his offices. The filler will last from 1½ to 2 years. Dr Spera advises this treatment to his patients who are not ready to undergo surgery, or who don’t have time to recover from the surgical procedure that Dr Spera performs to rejuvenate the mid-face of patients affected with this problem. We are showing today one of Dr Spera’s patients who is in her late 30s and didn’t want to undergo surgery at this time. As you can appreciate, the results are spectacular. In this patient, Dr Spera has not only corrected the tear-trough deformity, but has also camouflaged the lower eyelid bag, giving this patient without a doubt a remarkable improvement and rejuvenation of the appearance of her face. When Dr Spera uses fillers (i.e. injections to replenish the volume that everybody loses from the face as part of the aging process) combined with Botox to treat forehead wrinkles and wrinkles around the eyes. In his Plastic Surgery Center Miami, rejuvenation can be achieved in less than an hour, and the patient will be ready for social events in 7-10 days. Dr Spera recommends this treatment to anybody who can afford it and needs to look better for social events and/or wants to defer surgical treatment to the future. plastic surgery in miami, eyelid surgery in Miami, eye surgery in miami plastic surgery in miami, eyelid surgery in Miami, eye surgery in miami
