CIRCUMAREOLAR MASTOPEXY COMBINED W/ ABDOMINOPLASTY & LIPOSUCTION

February 3, 2016

Reshaping the body after pregnancy and weight gain is desirable for many women after they finish with their family plans.  Reconstruction of the breasts, when they are constricted and their sagging is not very remarkable can be achieved with a mastopexy that just requires incisions that will result in scars around the areolae.  This procedure, medically known as circumareolar mastopexy, is attractive to patients and surgeons.  However, it is very important to know that this “donut mastopexy” is only useful in patients who have the above-mentioned conditions, meaning that the breasts need to be constricted and not too saggy.  If anyone tries to perform this procedure on a patient who has the usual sagging breasts, in which the diameter of the breasts is already large and the breasts are already flattened, the procedure will result in deformity and a very flat unnatural look.  Patients have to be aware of this, and reject any proposal to perform this surgery when they don’t have the condition that is shown in this case, because they will end up with flattened breasts that will be completely unnatural.

The procedure of course can be combined with a good abdominoplasty and suction-assisted lipectomy.  The reshaping and re-contouring of the body at the end of the procedure can be as gratifying as the one shown by the patient in this presentation.  Recuperation from this surgery can range from 10 to 15 days, depending on the daily activities in which the patients are involved.
